Welcome Letter
Gilbert El LogoWelcome Letter from Mr. Sremba

Dear Families,

Thank you for your interest in Gilbert Elementary! We are happy to assist you with any questions you may have.  Gilbert Elementary is an incredible learning environment for all students.  The Leader In Me program provides a framework for students to reach their full potential as Student Leaders.  The Dual Language program offers an exciting opportunity for students to learn in both English and Spanish.  Student Clubs on campus offer students the chance to explore different activities, find their passions and develop lifelong skills.  Our lovely outdoor campus provides an atmosphere for students to learn in both indoor classrooms and outdoor settings like Synergy Square and the Leadership Garden.  Our entire staff does an incredible job educating and nurturing all children.

Below is just general information that many parents seek to inquire about.  Do not hesitate to reach out with any other questions that you may have.

School begins:

Thursday, August 2, 2018

School Hours:

First bell -7:45 AM - Students may enter campus at this time/supervision provided on the playground and breakfast begins.  Second bell - 8:08 AM - Students report to class.  Third Bell- 8:13 AM - Class begins.  Fourth bell - 3:00 PM - School Dismissed.  (School does dismiss each Wednesday at 2:00 PM to allow Professional Learning Community time for teachers.)

Before and After School Care:

The Gilbert district offers a program called VIK (Very Important Kids Club) as a before and after school alternative for parents.  Registration and payment is done with the Community Education department.  Gilbert Elementary currently houses a PM session of VIK in our Multi-Purpose Room. If you are in need of before school care your child may be enrolled in the VIK program, but would be dropped off at Playa del Rey Elementary in the morning and bussed to Gilbert El at 7:45.

Building Blocks (3 & 4 year old class):

Building Blocks 3’s program is the first block in building a foundation of academic success.  Students engage in a specifically designed curriculum-based program.  Students also begin to learn Spanish. Registration and payment is done with the Community Education department.

The second building block for academic success, our 4 year olds and young 5 year olds continue where our 3 year olds left off.  Ramping up the curriculum in preparation for reading and kindergarten readiness. Students continue to learn Spanish in the 4 year old class. Registration and payment is done with the Community Education department.

Yours in Education,

Justin Sremba
